A bearded hunter lies curled atop the warm stove, napping; his faithful dog sleeping below. As the cold winds swirl outside of his cabin, the sepia tinged brilliance of a dream unfurls beneath the rafters. The northern lights dance above the treetops, their undulating light painting the dreamscape. The hunter and his dog emerge from a forest to traverse a star strewn sky in a sleigh drawn by a most unusual team. Wild animals clad in boots, hats, and skis draw the hunter's sled towards the village. It seems the hunter's dog is driving; the wolf and bear turn to better hear his barked commands. The rabbit is at the lead, urging the others to go faster, but the moose seems content to plod. A tiny bird flies above the unlikely conveyance, perhaps offering directions. The golden border and the wavy form of the box itself echo the movement within the scene, while the chocolate color of the body of the box imparts warmth and harmony. This work is made of high quality papier mache and is signed on the lid with the title, artist's name (B. Bezchalako),and village. The box rests on four round feet. There is no hinge, and the interior is red lacquer.
