A young mother nods as her child grins impertinently from beneath a quilt. It seems the lullaby meant to send the tot into dreamland has worked its magic on mother instead! A thick golden band surrounds the pair, alive with dragonflies and flowers, perhaps the stuff of mother's dreams. A soft palette of peaches and blues lends a tender and sentimental feel. The gold foil border strewn with flowers is repeated on the sides and flush base, which are adorned with gold leaf flowers created by using negative space. This box is made of high quality papier mache and is signed on the lid with the artist's name (Roman Chibisov), village, and date of completion. There is a hinge on the upper left, and the interior is red lacquer, with the title in gold letters on the underside of the lid.--BOX1189
