Tiny ships join the famous bronze horseman and city crest on this tiny homage to St. Petersburg. The landmarks of the "Venice of the North" emerge from the countryside, their pale walls topped with gold creating the appearance of a fairyland against the deep black lacquer. Great care has been paid to detail, creating a delightful likeness which draws the eye again and again. This box is made of high quality papier mache and is signed on the lid with the title, artist's name (Chastova), and village. There is no hinge, and the interior is red lacquer. It rests on four curved legs.
