The sorcerer meets Tsar Dadon and the Shamakha Queen near the gates of the kingdom and asks to be paid for his efforts. The tsar refuses and soon the Golden Cockerel will be in action, once again. (To read the entire story and how it all ends, click on the fairy tale link above.) The box has a prodigious amount of radiant gold in the carriage and the clothing of all, making the piece look very classy. The three faces are also well done, perfectly befitting the characters that they depict. The drawing is framed by a simple dot border, with another understated ornament on the side. The box is made out of high quality papier mache and has a hinge at the top. It is signed with the name of the artist (Sitnik), village and title. A great looking smaller box at a nice price!
