This box comes from the village of Lipetsk and shows three bearded men sitting around the table engaged in what looks to be a spirited conversation. Perhaps it is over food - all three men have spoons, but only one has a bowl to eat from! A small crescent moon which is seen through the window indicates the gathering is at night The colors are vivid and the details are crisply drawn .The gold and silver ornaments on the top and sides are also expertly painted. The box is made out of papier mache, has a hinge and sits on four small legs. The interior is red. Signed with the name of the artist, village and title. We don't get too many boxes from Lipetsk, and this is a nice genuine medium size work.
