The beautiful young princess stands in the doorway of the cottage, waving goodbye to the seven bogatyrs as they set off on a journey. They gaily smile and wave back, perhaps a bit more enchanted with their lovely house guest than any of them would dare let on; only one of them is looking forwards! Even the one of the horses seems to have developed a crush on the bogatyrs' ward; his fellow nudges the mooning steed, as though to snap him out of his daze. (To read the whole fairy tale, click here.) The scene is well painted in soft, dream-like colors. Realistically placed metallic accents add to the illusion of sunrise. This box is made of high quality papier mache and is signed on the lid with the title, artist's name (S. Petrov), and village. There is a hinge at the top, and the interior is red laquer. The base of this piece is flush. An enchanting scene.--BOX1069
