The Twelve months look on kindly as the young girl picks the flowers their magic has produced. Her stepmother sent her out to find snowdrops in the middle of winter as yet another cruel joke. But the young girl will laugh last, as her magical new friends have sped up time in the clearing, covering the ground with spring flowers despite the falling snow. The soft, gentle colors of the scene enhance the feeling of kindness. A thick, elaborate border of silver, gold, and pink frames the vignette, giving the feeling of looking into an enchanted mirror. This box by Kholui artist Chentsov is made of high quality papier mache, and signed under the lid with the artists name and title of the piece. There is a hinge at the top, and the interior is red lacquer. The base of this piece is flush.
