A young woman in traditional garb strikes a saucy pose in this classic folk scene. Hands planted firmly on hips, her eyes seem to twinkle as she calls out a greeting to the viewer. The brilliant red of her gown glows dramatically against the realistically painted background while soft metallic paints add a charming effect of light and shadow to the background. This box is made of high quality papier mache and is signed on the lid with the artist's name (Pankatova) and village. There is a hinge on the left, and the interior is red lacquer. The base of the piece is flush.
