Ruslan courageously rides his noble steed in search of his beloved Ludmila. While the architecture and scenery in the background is faithrully rendered in a traditional manner by Palekh artist Maksakova, it is Ruslan and the horse that are really well drawn and capture your attention. The face of Ruslan has great detail, as do his armor and garments, all accented with fine lines of radiant gold. The box itself is made out of an german silver and has an intricate design throughout, including the bottom. It sits on four small legs. The inside is covered with a soft red fabric, a perfect compartment to protect your most valuable jewelry. It is signed on top with the name of the artist and village.
