A not-so-menacing Baba-Yaga sits in her hut, owl on shoulder. The Russian witch Baba-Yaga appears in a number of different fairy tales and sometimes she is not all that bad. Here she looks a little tired, but she may have had a long day riding her broomstick. An interesting cross section view of the hut has been drawn with various objects seemingly situated inside in an almost arbitrary fashion. And the whole thing is balanced on top of the hut's chicken legs. Baba-Yaga, meanwhile, sits there quietly, as if she is rocking gently on a porch swing. As the wise owl looks at her, the black cat has a shifty look in his eye as he keeps a close eye on the bird. Thin wispy lines of gold beautifully accent her sleeves, blouse, and many other objects in the hut. Nicely done gold ornaments frame the drawing and adorn the side. The well crafted box has a hinge at the left. It is signed with the name of the artist, village and title on the bottom. This nicely made box comes at reasonable price and is definitely a Baba-Yaga one could live with!
