Welcome to Part II of the lacquer box collection of J.B., a top collector on the East Coast. The first four boxes are not for those who are trying to economize, but they are all are very special and well worth the investment. "The Snow Maiden" in particular is eyecatching because of its large size, unique style and lovely colors. But the stellar works by Nebogatova and Rybakov also deserve mention because of the great art work not only on the top, but also all around the sides. And the older Fedoskino box from Naimova faithfully follows a masterpiece painting by the same name. Your house will look like a museum when you take that one! We we are also very happy to present another work from Vera Smirnova, who we used to carry many years ago. Since then, Ms. Smirnova has rose to the top ranks of Palekh artists, and one of her boxes, in fact, is featured on the cover of a recent book on the subject. We also have recently reconnected with her in Palekh, too, so look for many more of her pieces coming soon.
