Born in 1963. Graduated the Stroganov State Art-Industrial University in 1997 and received a teaching certificate there the next year. Karavaev is a member of the professional creative Union of Artists of IFA UNESCO in Russia, and has been a participant in numerous exhibitions. His works are located in private collections in many parts of the world including Russia, Holland, Germany, France, Mexico, USA, and South Africa. His profile and works have appeared in the 1999 and 2000 editions of the Russian art publication "Gallery Izograf". Karavaev uses a rare technique of mulitlayer watercolor painting and excels in painting realistic scenes capturing the spirit and look of both urban and rural Russia.
