Prince Gvidon and the Swan Princess gaze lovingly into each other's eyes as the church bells peal in celebration of Gvidon's reunion with his father, Tsar Saltan. The Princess's brothers, giant knights who rise from the sea to guard the harbor, call out a greeting to the couple from the waves. Gvidon's mother raises a goblet to toast the return of her husband. The love between them is obvious, despite their long years apart, and they gaze with the same longing as the younger couple. The scene is nicely painted in rich colors with thoughtfully placed golden accents. An ornate border of silver and gold frames the scene, and is echoed on the sides. This box is made of high quality papier mache and is signed on the lid with the title, artist's name (S. Tukanov), village, and date of completion. There is a hinge at the top, and the interior is red lacquer. It rests on four curved legs.
