A young girls stoops to pick an out of season snowdrop from beneath a snow covered evergreen in this scene from the tale, "The Twelve Months." The seasons seem to swirl around her as sunflowers, autumn berries, and tender spring seedlings bloom in the snow of the enchanted grove. The scene is beautifully painted, with mother of pearl adding a luminous glow to the girl's gown. This box is made of high quality papier mache and is signed on the lid with the artist's name (M. Pichugina), village, and date of completion. There is a hinge at the top, and the interior is red lacquer. The base of this piece is flush.--BOX1213
