A tiny figure turns at the sound of the merry bells of a troika, stepping back as the charging sleigh approaches the narrow, snow covered bridge. The diffuse glow of a full moon behind the thinnest winter clouds kisses the pale serenity of the frozen countryside with a gold as it twinkles through the icy forest. The pale darkness beyond the trees frames the scene, creating an intimate feel and sense of movement. V. Svyatchenkov's use of a soft, impressionistic style is particularly effective at creating the impression of the slightest hint of blowing snow. Simple white borders frame the scene and ring the sides of the box for a sophisticated look. This box is made of high quality papier mache and is signed on the lid with the artist's name and village. There is a hinge at the top, and the interior is red lacquer. The base of this piece is flush.
