A girl sits in a field near a river and castle gates, as she touches the world's most beautiful flower. Palekh artist Moiseev is the artist for this one, and he painted images seemingly everywhere on the small box, including the sides and the bottom, where there is an image of the Firebird. The sides, meanwhile, show two images of tale's Beast of the Forest, situated within an intricate weaving of grape vines, flowers and other decorations. On the top, the girl's face has a certain softness to it, uncommon for works from this village. Especially well painted, too, is the girl's dress, which spills over on to the front side of the box. What is impossible to see in the pictures here is the very fine gold work that went into various parts of the drawings, and in particular the girl's dress and the firebird. The box is made out of high quality papier mache and sits on four small legs. It has a red interior, and a hinge at the top. Signed with the name of the artist, village, title and year.
