Swiftly run three brave horses, carrying the overjoyed father with his daughter. They are riding home with a suitcase of riches given to the young lady by Old Man Winter (Morozko), who protected her from freezing in the forest. A little squirrel sits on top of the suitcase and a young rabbit is trying to keep up with the carriage. Morozko himself is looking on as they ride past. The golden and pink tones of the horses, carriage, and its passengers balance out beautifully the cold blue winter landscape. The red bow attached to the horse's bridle is a nice colorful touch to the scene. The painting is adorned with a gold ornament, and another ornament surrounds the sides of the box.
The box is made from papier mache. It's elevated just slightly above the ground with four small carved edges. It has a hinge at the top and opens to a red interior. Signed with the name of the artist, composition, and village.
