The mysterious Shamakha queen raises a delicately arched eyebrow as Tsar Dadon offers her his crown. The elderly Tsar has been smitten by the exotic stranger, despite the warnings of danger. The queen's tent is awash with the brightly colored trappings of wealth. Fine golden accents gleam throughout, adding to the opulent feel. This well made box is signed on the lid with the title, artist's name (V. Maks), and village. There is a hinge at the top, and the interior is red lacquer. The base of this piece is flush. A decadent scene.
