A tiny ship races into the port at St. Petersburg, trying to beat an approaching storm. Its sails press determinedly towards the city even as the black clouds climb higher above the famous rooftops. The crashing of waves against the ships wooden hull is drowned out by the booming thunder as lightning flashes across the sky. The scene is nicely painted, with a strong sense of movement and dramatic colors, creating an exciting scene. This box is made of high quality papier mache and is signed on the lid with the title, artist's name (V. Ageev) and village. There is a hinge on the left, and the interior is red lacquer. It rests on four curved legs.
