Emelya and the princess sit atop his enchanted stove getting to know each other. They pay no mind to the crowd that has gathered to gawk at them, the lazy young man having eyes only for the beautiful princess, and the princess captivated by Emelya's magical gifts and straightforward manner. The onlookers seem torn between awe and fear, some laughing at the absurdity of the scene before them and others cowering in the snow. The artist has brilliantly captured the chaos such a scene would surely cause in real life! The scene is well painted in a realistic style, with careful details such as the confused cat waking from a nap atop the previously immobile hearth, to the clattering crockery which careens and tosses crazily from the stove as the improbable conveyance cavorts across the countryside. the rich earth tones and cheerful brights of the scene sparkle with well placed metallic accents. This box is made of high quality papier mache and is signed on the lid with the artist's name, village, and date of completion. There is a hinge at the top, and the interior is red lacquer. The sides are painted in speckled greys, and the base of this piece is flush.
